Copying Files From PLC to PC
« on: January 23, 2021, 11:59:27 PM »
I keep getting the attached errors when trying to copy files from PLC to PC. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. What's the deal?

If the PLC is accessing the file via ladder logic at the same time you are trying to access the file via Designer session, you can get errors like this.

How are you accessing the file in ladder logic?  Are you keeping the file open for a long duration, or are you doing a FILEOPEN/FILEWRITE/FILECLOSE.  How often are you writing to the file?

I'm using FILEOPEN/FILEWRITE/FILECLOSE. This is a triggered event write that is not occurring when I'm trying to download the file. I'm in design stage so I manually triggered the write and then tried to download the file to make sure I had the formatting correct.

Still getting these errors. Currently I'm trying to download a file that is being written to every 15 seconds using the FILELOG command.

How big is the file?

About 7k. After several attempts I was able to eventually get it to download.

While accessing the file via comm (i.e. Designer), you should technically pause the FILELOG instruction, otherwise you can get Comm Errors every once in a while (and/or the FILELOG will fail).
