Future BRX Features
« on: August 28, 2019, 08:27:44 PM »
This is just a general question concerning future capability of BRX and Do-More. If someone could speak to the following and indicate if there is a known target release date for some of the below capabilities:

1) I believe I read somewhere that implicit EIP is to be added.
2) I believe I read somewhere that web server functionality is to be added. Would this include ftp?
3) Is there a plan to incorporate MQTT broker functionality?
4) Is there a plan to incorporate cascade PID functionality?
5) Has interest been expressed in incorporating ability to interface with any type of digital temperature sensor such as the DS18b20?
6) Is there any interest to release a 3.3 to 5.0 VDC high speed output module?

The plan is to add both master and slave to 2.7.

We are already working on an FTP client instruction. FTP server is being considered as part of the web server. The plan was for web server in 2.7, but I'm not sure we will have time.

3) Is there a plan to incorporate MQTT broker functionality?

No.

4) Is there a plan to incorporate cascade PID functionality?

First request we've heard. Can it be done with the existing instruction and supplemental logic?

5) Has interest been expressed in incorporating ability to interface with any type of digital temperature sensor such as the DS18b20?

No.

6) Is there any interest to release a 3.3 to 5.0 VDC high speed output module?

We've talked about doing a differential line-driver version of the HSIO, but really haven't gotten much interest. I'd say that the existing module could be adapted to a lower threshold voltage, but I'm not sure how that would affect the speed.

The plan is to add both master and slave to 3.7.

I'm hoping 2.7?

I would love to have 5V differential inputs A, /A, B, /B.  I really don't care for the added wiring and complexity of having to use isolators. For use with servos or VFDs that I need to use their encoder emulator or passthru outputs, this would be fantastic. But even just working single-ended at 5V levels would be better than isolators.

Yes, 2.7. I was working on a gate array that that was 3.7. Stuff runs together.

Should work by chaining the PID instructions and structure members together.  That's all Cascade is.  One loop feeding into a second loop, feeding a third loop, etc, ad nauseum.
