Invalid data
« on: September 12, 2013, 02:42:12 PM »
I have a GSEDRV100 connected to a GS3 drive. This is a new install. The drive keeps giving an "invalid data" error. The PLC can communicate with the drive. I have put the PLC in program mode and disconnected the cat5 cable for testing. The drive still gives the error. AD tech support says noise. The only cable left connected is the short RS485 jumper that comes with the EDRV. Any suggestions?

what firmware version is in the GS3 drive ? and what firmware version is in the GS-EDRV100?

the reason I ask is that we recently published new GS-EDRV100 firmware that had changes specifically for the GS3 drives that have firmware version 1.05 or later.

I think the issue is that v1.05 has some additional parameters that can only be accessed by a GS-EDRV100 that has the right firmware.

The new GS-EDRV100 firmware is downloaded with the Live Update feature in NetEdit, and NetEdit is then used to update the GS-EDRV100 with the new firmware.

Please let us know if the new firmware fixes the comm problem.

the GS3 firmware version can be seen in P9.39

NetEdit can show you the GS-EDRV100 firmware version

Is the drive grounded?  How and where?

How is the motor grounded?

Do the power wires for the drive run anywhere near the RS-485 wire?

Do you have a ground wire ran to the GS-EDRV100?

you need to be using gs-edrv100 firmware v5.0.229  ... 5.0.231 is for GS3 f/w v1.0.5 and later
