Windows 7, for whatever reason, does not include the IPX protocol which makes setting some of this stuff up a little more difficult.

te25, the problem is usually that you have multiple NICs (Network Interface Cards) on your PC, and your wireless one has priority. Winsock (Win7) controls access to your NICs. NetEdit cannot do this (nor any other software). So, you can try to reprioritize your NICs:

1.  Start --> Control Panel.
2.  Select "Network and Intranet" at the top.
3.  Double-click on the "Network & Sharing Center" icon.
4.  Press the <ALT> key to make a menu appear at the top of this window.
5.  On the menu at the top, select Advanced --> Advanced Settings...
6.  On the "Adapters and Bindings" tab, in the top window, select the connection you are using.
7.  Use the green arrows at the right to move this connection to the top of the list.
8.  Press <OK> and close Network Connections window.
9.  You may have to reboot your PC.

Make sure you are Administrator on this PC. I can't think of why there would not be any Advanced Settings selection otherwise.

It is the 5th tab over. It is Advance, then under that tab you will find Advanced Settings. I just moved my mouse over to the Tab.

On my computer there is a change advanced sharing settings option on the left side. which brings up the up down buttons, which does not help. there must be some other problem when i double click the connection and click on diagnose i get the MSG "LAN doesnt have a valid IP configuration" which is also the same Message I get when i try to connect to the cmore panel, I cant get that to work either. any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Do you know if the Host Engineering devices you are trying to configure already have IP addresses or not? Or are they brand-new-out-of-the-box? BTW, of course, using NetEdit, you can't see all Ethernet devices on a network, just the Host Engineering products.

Thanks for the reply. the plc dl06 was purchased new a number of years ago. until now i did all programing using the serial connection. Now i want to use a cmore pannel (used ebay) with it, which is why i want to go ethernet. Netedit does not see anything at all. i guess i have to say i dont know what to do next.

Questions:
1. Does the DL06 have an H0-ECOM? If so, does this H0-ECOM already have an IP address? Or is it brand new?
2. Does the DL06 have an H0-ECOM100? If so, does this H0-ECOM100 already have an IP address? Or is it brand new?

Here's what I'm thinking. Your ECOM/ECOM100 already has an IP address, and it is not on your PC's subnet. If this is so, you may have to reset the ECOM/ECOM100's settings using its dipswitches.

It looks like you were right, turns out the H0-ECOM already had a IP address. Had to use a different non-windows 7 computer to find it. Or maybe it was something else on my computer that blocked it. Now that I know the IP I can connect with my windows 7 computer. I think from now on if I need something I'll buy it new.
Thanks for the help.

Why would it NEED to be in the same subnet?  NetEdit finds it using non TCP messages, right, when it doesn't even have an IP address?
