Windows 7 w/D0-06DR & H0-ECOM100 Comm Link Issue
« on: October 26, 2010, 08:46:05 PM »
All was working fine and then I lost connection. I am using Direct Soft 5.3.194 w/ a good crossover cable connecting to a H0-ECOM100 in a D0-06DR. All hardware work on my XPPro box just fine...
On my Windows7 box, I can see the H0-ECOM100 it in Netedit 3 and even write to its ip 10.11.11.50 & 255.255.224.0 and scan and find D0-06 every time. I just can't add a link to connect to the plc. I don't see any plc in the module list to connect to. I can ping the address, write to the card in netedit, and communicate (connect to the plc) through a USB to Serial in port 1 (C-more Micro programming cable). My network card is enabled and working properly, configured TCP/IPv4 10.11.11.80 & 255.255.224.0 and nothing (I can write to it in netedit). I have turned off my wirless connection and dissabled all network firewall and still nothing. This seems like it is a windows setting problem. It had been working just fine before this. The program quit responding and that's when all of this happened. Can anyone please help ???
Thank's

Did you try going into the "Link Editor" and manually setting the Link's Port to Ethernet, TCP/IP Addressing (over IPX), the ECOM100's IP Address, and ECOM protocol (over K-Sequence and DirectNet)?  The Create Link Wizard has a button in the corner to bring up the Link Editor dialog.  Hit the AUTO button once you've entered all the parms and it should "ding" if it worked.

Yes, I have also tried to connect through Link Editor, but in link editor, I have always had to use UDP/IP to add an IP address. I get an error connecting to plc or defined link failed to communicate. I have had the same problem on my XP box in the past, because I was not on the same network address which points to windows 7 settings. I could see it in Netedit but not communicate. I am new to windows 7 but address is address if I am doing it right? I open network sharing center, select local area connection, then Properties, select TCP/IPv4, then Properties, and (select) enter proper ip address & subnet then click ok. I can then run ipconfig to confirm.
I have even tried rebooting with assign IP automatically and ECOM-100 addressed and hoping that Windows is smart enought to see the network connection and put in all the right stuff, but that doesn't do it either. I have also tried a combination of ipconfig /release and renew with still no luck. I am almost ready to send for a recovery cd and format my machine to start over, but the same thing may happen again or it still may not communicate. I would also like to be able to control my machine and know the cause.
What can I possibly try next?

Found the problem. The free uninstalled 60 day version of Mc Afee's was blocking traffic. I uninstalled all of Mc Afee's and as soon as I opened DS5 to add an ethernet link, There it was, Mac/IP address under module list. All works fine ;D

Thanks for all views and your response(franji1). I hope this helps someone else save alittle time in the fuiture...
