DirectSoft DS500.ini file
« on: July 15, 2010, 03:16:11 PM »
I am running DirectSoft version V5.3. When DirectSoft launches it attempts to validate all links which is a lenghty process. I have set Autosense=0 under [Comm Server] in DS500.ini but this does not correct the problem. A search of the entire hard drive shows only one copy of DS500.ini.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Just my though on disabling that auto sense. When I bring up the software and try to connect I find I had to unplug from my port wait couple secs then plug it back in. Seems the software did not recgonize my links. And where is the spell checker for posting? I need one badly.

When you disable auto-sense, all the the DirectSOFT comm links are disabled.  When you get the initial comm-error from DirectSOFT, just hit the RETRY button and it should enable the link and be able to connect to THAT specific link (other links will remain disabled).

My problem is that I am not able to disable autosense even though autosense is set to zero. DirectSoft continues to validate all links when launched.

Were you able to deal with the "hidden" DS500.ini file, as described in the FAQ?

Thanks for your help. It turns out that there was a semicolon at the start of the autosense=0 line. I removed the semicolon and everthing is working fine.

yeah, that's how you comment-out entries in an .INI file.  Sorry about that  :-[
