Hi,
I have a setup I did for one of my customers several years back using the H4ECOM with a DL440 and Wonderware In Touch.
During the writing and debugging of the program we kept having intermittent comm problems and since my customer has had the completed system, anytime they would have to restart the system it would not communicate upon initial bootup.
We tried several Ecom modules, bases and cpu's - they all acted the same.
Sometimes I would be able to get it running by rebooting several times or going to the DDE server to manually enabling the link or sometimes moving the CPU switch from term to run to term would help.
A few weeks back I picked up a 440 setup from Ebay that included an H4ECOM module
so I decided to try it in their system and it now boots up every time successfully.
Using NetEdit I looked at the boot and firmware files in both modules and saw that they were different.
The newer one (made in 2003) had firmware rev of 1.0.211 and a boot file rev of 3.0.139. (I may have downloaded and installed these rev's when we were having the initial issues.)
The older one that I just bought (made in 2000) had a boot firmware rev of 1.0.147 and a boot file rev of 21.47. (That's the way the file name shows up in NetEdit, not 2.1.47.)
So, I have 2 questions:
- why does the older module not have the comm issues and
- is there a way to get and save the firmware and boot bin files from the older modules memory in case I run into this problem again?
Thanks for any help.
Jim
