Feature request: Search available in Trend View

Currently, the Search menu disappears when a Trend View is selected, and Ctrl-F doesn't open Find either, unless you switch to a different tab.

I have no idea if there's an obstacle to doing this, but I'd like to have one or both of those still active with a Trend View selected.

The MDI menu is context sensitive - it's view specific, based on the View that currently has focus.  When the Trend View has focus, what do you want it to find in the Trend View?

Even when the Search menu shows up, the Find dialog is specific to the current view.

Doc Editor, it finds elements in the doc view.  XRef View, it finds elements in the XRef.  Ladder View - finds elements or instructions in the code with a bunch of options.

Yes!  If the current Trend View has just one element, it can definitely do a Find All on that one.  There's actually a hot key Ctrl+Shift+Y for Find All (Current Element).

If the current Trend View has more than one element (more typical?), we could prompt with a drop-down list of all the elements in the current trend view, then perform the Find All.

I like it!   Or a right click on the element/nickname on the left or right vertical axis (might be iffy since for analogs those move vertically with the pen)

Oh, would also like the slider for trend width to go wider than an hour (24 hours maybe?).   You can set the width to whatever you want in the dialog, but if you zoom in with the slider, you cen't get back to longer without the dialog again.

The detents are completely up to us.  Completely non-linear.  I widened that whole control for 2.11, so to add (at least) 2 more detents is very do-able.

Maybe add 4, 12, and 24 hours or something?   There's plenty of screen real estate to make the slider longer without making the detents narrower in pixels.   I do really long trends a lot.

Ha!  In the case writeup, I said "3, 12, 24" but initially thought 4, 12, 24.  I changed it to 3.

I presume you set the default Historical data set size to 100MB.

Do you use Trend Archive (either Record or Export?).  It's helpful whenever you want to trap some "event" with other data values, but don't want to sit there and watch it "live".  Just save the archive, then load it, then analyze it (zoom in).

The only issue is that your archive file can get too large to import (yikes!).

The .CSV export can be utilized instead for Excel (not Designer), although Excel can't handle a huge CSV file either - but 64 bit Notepad++ can.

Ha!  In the case writeup, I said "3, 12, 24" but initially thought 4, 12, 24.  I changed it to 3. 4 is good.

Only very rarely.  Often I have a trend running on a DMD machine running headless at my customer's site (same PC acts as my VPN router) when I don't actually know an issue will occur, so deleting it after a few days is fine.
