Incorrect Input From C-More Touch Screen
« on: January 25, 2024, 02:14:43 AM »
I have a Do-More PLC controlling 6 GS-2 drives through GS-EDRV100s.  The PLC has a H2-ECOM100 ethernet module and the CPU is a H2-DM1E.  It connects to two C-more touch screens and a larger PLC network.

The touch screens allow operators to select between offload, production and test.   When offload is selected the PLC will jump to the Offload program and exit the production and test programs.  When Production is selected the PLC will write to exit the offload program but still allow for the test program to run.

The system has been in place for over 8 years.  More and more often, we are experiencing problems during offload.  Offload will be selected and the PLC would not exit the Production program.  Both Offload and Production bits will be active in the PLC and it will not exit production even when the correct button on the touch screen is pressed.

The C-more touch screens are on separate levels of the ship.  They will both show that the Offload program has been selected and Production is not active.  But the PLC will show both Production and Offload bits as being active.
The only correction so far has been to power cycle the PLC.  Then the program will respond as programmed.

The Do-More software is v2.4. I am not sure of the exact firmware in the PLC.

It doesn?t look like there is any error in the code.  Any chance it?s a faulty touch screen that causing this issue?

Production Mode is a Toggle Switch C0 Discrete on both C-mores
Offload Mode is a Toggle Switch C1 Discrete on both C-Mores
Test Mode is a Toggle Switch C6 Discrete on both C-mores

I did not write the program. But does having two HMI's writing to the same bit on a single Do-More PLC cause an issue?  Or is it common practice?

I have multiple C-Mores talking to a single plc and haven't noticed this problem. The C-more doesn't store the bit values in memory. The C-More should just manipulate the memory in the PLC Read/Write so when something changes it should reflect that on the screen.

At least this is my experience with the two.
