DoMore connection problem
« on: December 15, 2022, 08:17:26 AM »
Hello I just ran into a problem when connecting to BX-DM1E-36ER3-D.  I had previously connected to the CPU using Ethernet but got a error when I tried to connect again.  "Encountered an improper argument".  Now I get this messages both when I try to open the program on the PC and when I try to connect to the PLC using "new online" option.   The program in the PLC is working fine, I just can not view the ladder or alter it.
Can someone explain to me what might be the problem ?

Are you opening the Disk project?  Try that (it should automatically then connect to the PLC and possibly present any differences).

Do NOT save anything (to Disk or to the PLC), we need to see if you can CONNECT first, and then go from there.

Hello Fanji1 and thanks for the reply.  If I try to open the disk project I get this error and if I press ok I get the documentation but no ladder.  If I try to connect from blank ( no project open from disk) I get the same error, it starts to read and then comes with this error and then I get the connection to the PLC but no ladder.

I have attached the Disk project

The Documentation Database is corrupted.  We've seen this once before.

I can re-generate your DISK project (minus the 24 corrupted Nickname documentation records).
Q1. Does the DISK project match your current PLC Project (i.e. I can just "fix" the project you posted and that is good enough)?

About the corruption - we believe we have "fixed" what is causing the corruption, along with a better handling of existing corrupted documentation database records.

Back to your specific project to possibly understand the cause of the corruption - do you remember the element types associated with the following nicknames?
NN(RF1_1)
NN(RF1_2)
NN(RF1_1_ljos)
NN(RF1_2_ljos)

Q2. What were the elements?
Q3. Were there casts involved, or structures, or arrays, or ???

Please answer Q1, Q2, and Q3.

Thank you Franji1 for your answer.  Here are mine.

Q1: It should be enough for me if you just "fix" the disk project.
Q2: "RF1_1" is DLX1 - "RF1_2" is DLX2 - "RF1_1_ljos" is DLY11 and "RF1_2_ljos" is DLY12
Q3: I don't think so.

And than some questions:
Is there a way for me to write a new project to the PLC ?  I always get the error when I try to connect an therefore I don't have the option to write to PLC.

Thanks, Gummi Ben

You can always do the switch dance to reset to factory.  The full procedure is in the BRX manual in the CPU section.

Attached is the tweaked project file with the corrupted Nickname Records removed.
