Realistic Lead Times
« on: June 22, 2022, 11:23:03 AM »
Do you guys have any idea what a realistic lead time is for BX-AD and BX-DA modules? I've had some ordered since February and the AD website keeps moving the availability date out. As of this morning it's listed as 9/20. I didn't know if you guys had any better information on parts availability and lead times.

There should be a decent pile going out shortly. After that, we're not sure. We have no parts, and haven't gotten significant quantities for a year or so.

There is hope though.

Through a minor miracle, I was put in contact with someone very high at Intel. I won't be specific, but his title is a 3 letter abbreviation, so he's in pretty rarified air. Following our discussion, there was some downstream chatter that leads us to believe we might do better in the Q3 allocation. The Q3 allocation report was supposed to be out mid June, so I expect to hear something shortly. Intel has been told repeatedly how important these parts are to Host, ADC, and our mutual customers. They understand that our products are used in many things critical to infrastructure and manufacturing. Now we wait.

We have pursued a redesign of analog modules that would eliminate our dependency on FPGAs. We are not pushing it further until we see what happens for Q3, but we think the design is viable. If we get bad news, we'll expedite it.

About 90% of Host's revenue comes from products that use Intel FPGAs. Nobody is enjoying this.

Thanks for the update!   Sounds like potentially good news, either way.

Received an update from AD this morning saying the ship date for 2 BX-DM1E-18ER3-D ordered 4 months ago is now unavailable. The previous ship date was 11/18/2022. Is there any chance of getting these by the end of the year?

Pretty sure a decent pile is going to ADC this week. Probably not enough to catch up the full backlog, but much of it.

I just checked, March 6 is when I ordered these. So i should be getting one from that decent pile, or is the backlog even further back?

You should be very close to first.

Yes. I have received some that were ordered back in March and April. I have also watched their stock and picked up some that were not exactly what I wanted but was able to make them work.

I got a couple as well that weren't quite what I needed, (worked well enough though) but last I checked, now they are all out of stock.

One of my buddies did receive his BX-DM1E-18ER3-D lately, that he had ordered in November of 2021. The one I ordered in March still hasn't shown up. Just wondering if the latest ship date ( 1   BX-DM1E-18ER3-D   1 backordered. Expected to ship earliest 11/30/2022) is somewhat accurate?

I'm sorry, I don't (any longer) keep up with the specifics of what parts are unavailable on each model. That side of the business is stressed enough that I really try to leave them alone. Our manufacturing team meets with ADC weekly to discuss what can and should be built and when, and I assume ADC reflects that planning to their store. I'm thinking that there was at least one critical part that cleared recently (used in analog output circuits, perhaps), so that may be allowing some stuff to get built.

Can a BX-DM1E-36ED13 be powered with 24vdc via the V+ & V-  terminals?
