Structs inside UDTs??   Muy bien!
I retract my earlier statement that half of all politicians are crooks.  Half of all politicians are NOT crooks.  There.

And to prove we are doing useful things other than create annoying comm bugs, and whatever this might be, here's a screen shot from current work. Pay attention to the parameters.  ;)

Well at least you guys fix bug in a timely manner. A round of applause for the UDT improvements!

Can all structures be used in the UDT?

That is the plan. Struct can't exceed 256 bytes though.

256 bytes is a very big struct so not much limitation there (famous last words)

Nobody will ever need a struct bigger than 256 bytes!  🤣

And you can have 256 of those suckers in your system memory of 64k! Who could ever need more?!?

Also reminds me of Thomas Watson Sr.'s comment that the world market for computers was 5. Nailed it.

Ever read Neal Stephenson's Cryptonomicon?  Highly recommended!  Personal favorites of mine (as with pretty much anything Stephenson).  Mentions the time when a 'computer' was a person, not a thing.

Will you be able to have strings in the UDT?

Progress...status of embedded structures.

I like what I see.  Keep up the good work.

You're calling it embedded, as opposed to nested?  Will it be possible to use a structure inside a structure?

Same same. Yes, nested, one level only, any struct(s) to a max of 256 bytes in the UDT.

On the subject of nested structures... https://forum.hosteng.com/index.php?topic=3401.0

Is there a release date estimate for the embedded/nested structures added to DmD?

Yes, soon.

Pretty much all of our plans got scrambled by chip shortages. We were able to get parts to build BRX, but it did force some internal design changes that necessitate a new version of DmD. So to that end we were forced to delay the launch of some new modules, and instead focus on getting the new CPU version done, and by extension, version 2.9 of DmD. I don't know of the exact date, but I think it is December. Major features will be the new Modbus Scanner, nested structures, and support for the new (jokingly referred to Pandemic Model) BRX CPU.

To be clear, the "new" CPU is functionally identical to current CPUs, but built with a different FPGA and a different memory architecture. To the extent we've done our job well, you won't know the difference, save that "P" model FPGA can only be updated by DmD 2.9 or later. Operating system for all CPU models is the same, although "P" models have to run OS version 2.9 or later.

And to those who will ask, I am sorry, but the Ethernet/IP scanner will be in a release in the spring. It was planned for this release, but then the CPU redesign happened. Desperate times.
