This will be my first project using Ethernet/IP or Modbus TCP.  Does anybody have any experience communicating a BRX to a universal robot?  I am wanting to be able to feed the cobot variables to make selections of pickup/dropoff locations and I'm wanting it over ethernet for the flexibility as the project gets more complicated.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Even if it is just a recommended route.

Thanks

One consideration is how the parameters are laid out in either EIP or Modbus, meaning if for both they're laid out in contiguous locations. Another consideration is whether the EIP on the cobot supports implicit or explicit or both. They're both pretty similar in that you'll probably be reading/writing parameters to Word memory locations.

This is a new project, and I'm starting with the comms.  I'm not concerned about how the data is laid out yet.

The cobot supports Implicit EIP which I'm understanding my plc does as well.  Is there any guides on setting up a device over EIP implicit with a BRX controller?

I was trying to follow the UR Ethernet IP Guide which is based on the AB plc, but no luck.  The link to the guide is below.

Maybe I'm getting mixed up, but is this correct?
I'm wanting my cobot (adapter) to operate at the direction of my Brx plc (scanner).  If the scanner and adapter terminology is correct then how do I setup the ethernet/ip implicit scanner on the brx plc?

At present time the BRX doesn't support the Scanner functionality only the adapter. BobO or Franji can give an estimated release date for the Scanner functionality. You might still be able to do it with Explicit EIP.

Looks like your robot supports Modbus TCP/IP. I would go that route if you need this now. The BRX does Modbus very well and looks like it only needs a Slave device, so you could use the internal Port or the  ECOMLT POM. The BRX would  act as remote IO to the robot controller.
