Remote Slave Module Behavior
« on: August 28, 2020, 06:02:18 AM »
I noticed today that while having a (bench-test) system running with a remote EBC100 slave, I intentionally pulled a couple of the cards off of the slave and found that there was no fault message generated by doing this. Also, I was able to plug the cards back in and they seemed to function the way they did prior to removal. Also, while leaving one of the cards unplugged from the slave I performed a stop/run transition and there were no errors generated. When doing this same type of thing on the Master I get a ST148 fault and the I/O has to be reinitialized. I guess I just assumed that something akin to the ST148 would be generated for removal of a slave module. What is the reasoning behind not having slave module failures/removals fault the system?

Not sure, but I will check into it. I doubt it was an active decision. More likely an oversight that until now hasn't been reported.

I think it was addressed.
