Ethernet/IP (EIP) and Danfoss VFD
« on: June 12, 2020, 01:45:44 PM »
Haven't used Ethernet/IP prior on the BRX and cannot seem to get things working.

Trying to connect to a Danfoss FC202 Drive with a MCA 121 communication card.
Danfoss has list of the CIP details here: http://files.danfoss.com/download/Drives/doc_MG90J202.pdf

Tried to get the nameplate Voltage as a generic test and could seem to get it working.
Verified network is connected, can access the drive webpage without issue, ping, etc.
I cannot verify the device is "Implicit or Explicit" with my limited knowledge of this protocol. Based on the file linked, it supports both (Class 1 & 3).

Page 52 is where the details for the nameplate voltage attribute is at.

Any pointers would be appreciated.

I looked at the Danfoss manual linked, but that is some seriously hard to read and understand stuff they have there. For this all to be some kind of standard, I have a difficult time with the various manufacturers using different terms to mean the same thing (I think.)

BTW, "... and could seem to get it working." leaves me unsure whether it did or didn't.

So far, Do-more only does explicit EIP, but I have managed to get the various devices I've tried that do implicit to work anyway.

I would start with pages 17 and 51.

Class 0x4
Instance 0x46 (Decimal 70)
Attribute 0x3 (maybe? Danfoss seems to love this term "attribute")
Specific Service, Get Attribute (14, 0x0E)
Res Max Length in BYTES 4

Good luck figuring out whether the speed is hex decimal or whatever!

Thank you for responding, I am glad to see I am not the only one who didn't quite get the manual.
"Could" should have  been "Couldn't."

After getting a call back from Danfoss, there is a rather cryptic method to get the class and instance.

Go get a parameter from the drive, you get the parameter number.  For Example:
Motor Current (Amps)
Parameter# 16-14
Data Type: 32-bit Int
Conversion: -2 (0.01 implied decimal; RAW 123=1.23A)

CIP
Class: 116 (Always 100+Parameter Section)
Instance: 114 (Always 100+Paramter Number)
Attribute: 100 (All parameters have the same attribute!)
Bytes: 4 (32 bit value, 8 bits/byte)

Hope this helps some else in the future.
