T1H-EBC100 or BX-EBC100
« on: July 18, 2019, 07:03:10 PM »
Looking to do an install with 8 "small" remote I/O groups (approximately 8 analog inputs, 8 discrete inputs and 6 discrete outputs) per remote using a BRX main unit. I'm trying to decide between using T1H-EBC100 (terminator) or BX-EBC100 (BRX) remote units. I was just soliciting feedback as to whether or not there is a compelling reason to use one platform over the other. Is performance comparable between the two platforms? Any advice is appreciated.

Pretty comparable. BRX is probably cheaper.

We have a fair amount of T1H stuff at our location and last year started doing the BRX IO for the remote stuff. I have had a few issues with losing inputs on t1h stuff but that is because we didn't put the snubber stuff on our bigger starters. The bx IO can handle higher voltage on the 120 side which is almost everything we do here (BX is up to 240vac on Input cards). So far i like BX better but not sure if 1 year is enough to base my opinion. Also if you use a do more processor you can save a bit by buying the IO over the EBC (BX-DMIO-M $179 vs T!H-EBC100 which is $296). Also the analog is much more sensitive on the bx, 0-32767 vs 0-8191 on the T1H.

One thing the T!H has over the H2 and BRX is that it can basically go on forever. 1 ebc can have a whole lot of cards to it you just have to add power supplies every so often. This would apply if you were nearing the 16 limit of remote IO Bases. Maybe wrong here but 16 seem like a small number if you were going to have some drives set up and each drive takes up 1 remote spot.  Maybe wrong there as i've never done the drive part but mostly cause i have about 8 remote  bases around the plant and have more then 8 drives so my 16 would get used up pretty fast( think this applies to the gs series of drives). I assume with the H2 series you could put in erm modules but then you lose the easy remote IO.

So all in all I think they hit it out of the park with the BRX stuff if that helps you at all.

Thanks for the feedback guys. It appears as though either solution will work but the BRX is the more cost effective solution.
