DirectSOFT 5.3 Communications

I am using DirectSOFT 5.3 talking to a DirectLOGIC 205 DL260 CPU. I am using ECOM205: ECOM protocol on Ethernet as my com link. Although this CPU has been communicated with using another laptop, I continually get comm error 10047. Ping to both the CPU and a touchscreen through a common ethernet switch are successful.
Any ides?
