D0-05DR-D Doesn't Show a COM port When Connected on Win 10
« on: October 23, 2015, 12:32:38 AM »
Sorry, this may be an obvious one but I am new to PLCs and I spent the whole night trying to fix this or find a solution before posting.

I have a D0-05DR-D that was given to me by a friend, I make test equipment at work and it seems like the perfect tool. When I plug it in and run up DirectSoft6 I only show COM 1 (probably my keyboard) and it won't connect. At first I had a home made cable and it wasn't working so I used a cable from Automation Direct. I still don't see any additional COM ports in the DirectSoft list or in the windows device manager. I AM running Windows 10, this seems like the obvious problem, unfortunantly my other computer is a laptop without a serial connection.

I would really appreciate some help with this if anyone has had similar problems.

Thanks,
-Doug

Use your Windows Device Manager (under Control Panel) to determine which COM ports exist on your computer

The use http://www.hosteng.com/FAQFiles/DirectSOFT.htm#FAQ0008 to set up the DS500.ini file. In the DSLaunch panel look on the left side to find the DS500.ini reference and double click it. After editing you will then have to stop and re-start Directsoft.

An output is a PLC's way of getting its inputs to change.
