EMail from Do-More in arbitrary subnet

I’m doing what will be a standard off-the-shelf product containing a Do-More and an Idec HMI.  I want to include email functionality, and the user can set all the relevant target information from the HMI and I can then forward to the Do-More email device using DEVWRITE.   The problem comes in communicating from the PLC to the outside world; I haven’t done any projects with PLC’s in networks where I can’t manually program the PLC to be part of the plant subnet if comms are desired between the machine and the rest of the plant or the internet.  If I’m going to ship these things to points unknown, they’ll have to contend with networks with arbitrary subnet definitions.

I don’t think Do-More will do DHCP, but even if it does, I doubt if the PLC address for the HMI to communicate with can be dynamically set at runtime (but that’s an Idec question anyway).

Maybe it’s more of an Ethernet/IT issue.  Is there a copper-copper router/gateway that could bridge from the local control subnet consisting of the Do-More and HMI and the plant subnet?   If so, is there an industrial-style one (DIN rail mount, 24VDC supply, terminals vs. wall wart)?
