Plc type 03800002 not supported
« on: February 25, 2008, 05:11:29 PM »
IT updated me with a newer laptop, they transfered most of the disk image from the previous machine. It had DirectSoft 5.1 running. Nothing was working with this new setup.

I downloaded the latest version (5.2) and the install completed uneventfully.

When I try to load one of my projects I get the PLC unsupported error.

What is wrong?

Yeah, you really can't "copy" DirectSOFT from PC to PC.  You need to UNINSTALL whatever is there (5.2/5.1/whatever), then do a CLEAN install of the software using the purchased installation key.

Actually, you need to UNINSTALL it from BOTH PCs to properly transfer the license.

You should copy your PROJECTs folder across from your old drive AFTER you have installed it on the new PC.

You were correct, I had to uninstall and delete the directory where everything was.

The only problem I have now is that the wizad came back with an error that I was not registered for the product.

I had purchased version 5.0 on the internet. It was down loaded and installed. version 5.1 was then downloaded and installed. My computer was upgraded and the image was transfered... nothing worked... 5.0 and 5.1 install files were somhow deleted.

I downloaded 5.2 and ran the install it loaded over the old image but did not work properly.

Performed your suggestions and now I can at least load my projects... we shall see if all is OK soon enough.

Thanks.

Is it running as DS100 package (i.e. the free package)?  If so, you need to enter they registration key.  When you purchased it online, you should have received a key to make it the full package.

If you've lost that key, all you need to do is call up Automation Direct and they can get it back to you.  You may even be able to go back to your online order and it may provide you they key for that specific order???
