Web Interface for Do-More H2-DM1E

When I purchased my PLC from AD I was assured that their was a web interface for the unit, assuming like many devices, you can connect it to a network, type in the IP address and access a configuration/status page.  When I called back for details the tech support guy didn't really know anything about this.  Any experience out there?  The ultimate goal is to assign it a static IP address and access it from a remote location.  Thanks

there's no web interface in the Do-more CPUs - like there is in our EBC100s and ECOM100s - that allows for configuration, uploading and downloading programs, etc.

The only software that can be used to access the configuration and/or project in the Do-more CPU is Do-more Designer. If you have access to the Internet appliances (routers, firewalls, etc.) that physically connect the CPU to the Internet, you can configure them to allow Do-more Designer to go online with a Do-more CPU over that connection.

VPNs and other Remote Access setups are equally valid.

tfoley, not sure if you caught this or not, but the H2-ECOM-100 Mike mentioned isn't an alternative product but a module that fits like I/O into the rack of the Do-More, so if for whatever reason you have to have the web interface per se rather than the remote access described, you don't have to abandon the Do-More.

I think by "web interface", the tech support person was answering the question (which is what I think you are asking), can I interface the H2-DM1E over the Internet.  Based on your Internet access at the PLC, the answer is definitely YES.

If by "does it have a web page for configuration", the answer is NO.  The Do-more is a PLC, not a "simple" device like an EBC, ECOM, or ERM.  In order to configure a Do-more, you must use Do-more Designer, the PLC programming software.  But, as mentioned in the previous paragraph, can work across the Internet.  There are a few issues dealing with latency and timeouts when going across THE Internet (vs. a local office network).

See this FAQ on the various ways to make our Ethernet products accessible over the Internet (it discusses the latency/timeout issues).  Although this FAQ is for accessing DL PLCs via the ECOM100 using DirectSOFT, the steps are VERY similar when using Do-more Designer to a H2-DM1E CPU.  If you do have questions (because the steps are not identical), definitely post them here.

Web interface can mean many things and I have no idea who assured you or what they assured you. It is possible to access the CPU over the Internet. It's generally not something we recommend for a number of good reasons, but it is possible and is routinely done. Do-more does NOT include any standard web server functionality, but it is reasonably easy to add the function with the custom protocol instructions. I think plcnut posted a sample web server application in the samples section if you are interested in rolling your own. If you do choose to do your own, please direct the questions here rather than ADC.

Thanks to all.  You are correct that the term "web interface" is a bit vague, and it's quite possible (likely) I didn't ask the right question to start.
Per a suggestion from Doug Bell at Interconnecting Automation if I were to add a C-More panel to the kit I would get both the "web interface" or connectivity I need and a logical UI to go along with it.  Granted, I will be a few hundred bucks lighter but if it is straightforward enough configure then I will probably make it back by virtue of less fiddling (and researching FAQs and Help forums).  Thoughts?

Sadly, we here at Host don't know all the capabilities of the C-more panel, especially it's web access (although I know it supports it).  C-more is a Koyo product, not a Host product.  You might try asking about C-more web access on ADC's forum.  There's even a sub-group specifically for "operator interface" posts.
