Still not retriggering the STRFIND despite the following logic.  I can clearly see the timer recycling, so I don't know why the STRFIND isn't retriggering.

Code: [Select]
STRN T100.Done
TMR T100 100

STR T100.Done
INIT "3 MHR[V1] MHR[V1+9] 0"
STRGETB SS99 0 20 MHR[V1]
STRCLEAR SS100 1
STRPUTB SS100 0 20 MHR[V1]

STRN T100.Done
STRFIND SS100 0x4 D1 C34 ST1023 """$00"""
AND C34
STRDELETE SS100 D1 20

Not sure what you mean by "called program"....although I'm guessing you put it in a program block. The point is that they are not "called" per se, they are enabled to run.

Yes, a program as opposed to a task.

If the program is running without exiting, it should work just fine. If it is exiting and rerunning, there are definitely edge considerations.

Edge triggered instructions, in my experience, are best implemented using a FOR/NEXT Loop.

FOR
V0
From 0
To 1
By 1

V0 = 1 ----------edge triggered instruction

NEXT

This is the simplest way (that always works) no matter where you place the instruction in your code.

Thanks, plcnut!   ;D

I hate to admit it, but I stole the code from from Mark... So I guess we can both thank him ;D

Thanks Mark!

Thanks Mark!
You're welcome!  However, we've addressed this issue in Designer Rel 1.1.  STRFIND (plus STRPRINT, STRSUB, STRCMP, and DATAINFO) all now have the option to be Power-Flow enabled OR Edge-Triggered.  You will need to upgrade your firmware too.  See the attached screen shot of the new STRFIND editor.

We're in the Beta cycle, so all I can say is "soon".

If we hadn't continued to feature creep it, it would already be out. The problem is that we tend to actually listen to what y'all ask for... ;)

Here's what ended up working well for me.  The program containing the STRFIND does exit and is enabled periodically in $Main.  The rung with the STRFIND has no real preconditions (begins with STR ST1), and it does appear to retrigger based on the performance of the STRDELETE that's using its output.

Also request a DL style tabular usage view for non-heap items.  The tooltip Xref/usage is too limited in scope.

It's there. Cross reference view, usage mode.

It's under Tools now. Not sure why it was moved, but it really isn't a view in the truest sense, and I know some of that stuff got shuffled.

I use Ctrl+Y though...
