H2-ECOM100 EMAIL SETUP
« on: December 20, 2012, 01:05:45 PM »
I'm having trouble getting the Test Email to work through NETEDIT3. I have a H2-ECOM100 (updates applied). I have it setup and can access the plc via the network and from home. I'm using http://www.authsmtp.com for my mail relay.
Email Config Settings:
Server IP 62.13.128.188 (authsmtp says IP address should ideally be a host name:mail.authsmtp.com)
They have a FAQ that says to use IP address 62.13.128.189 but when I ping          mail.authsmtp.com   it shows the IP at 62.128.188. I tried both with no luck.
Sender name: acXXXXX
Sender Email Address: me@mydomain.com
SMTP Port:25
Timeout:0

Does any have any suggestions? I've opened the SMTP Viewer and it doesnt show anything unless I click test CPU access and then it shows my CPU DL-260 FOUND.

I'm hoping the Timeout of 0 is a typo.  It should be 60 seconds or 30 seconds (depending upon worst case how slow your email server takes to do its work).

Some e-mail servers do not respond to pings on purpose. It keeps hackers from discovering them easily. But if you typed in ping and the mail.authsmtp.com and it showed it was attempting 62.13.128.188 then this is the correct IP address for the mail.authsmtp.com.

When you open SMTP Viewer you must enable it to work.
- When you start SMTP Viewer it should say in the title bar "Monitoring UDP port: 29298 (0x7272)"
- From the menu click Device --> Select Device (you'll need to be on the network with your H2-ECOM100.
- Choose your ECOM100 from the list and press <OK>.
- In the small top text window, type in emailtrace and press <Enter> key.
- It should give a date/time in the big window and say "EMail Trace On". If it says "Off" then just do the emailtrace again (this toggles).
- Next, leave this running and start NetEdit3 and right-click on your H2-ECOM100 and try the Test Email again.

Let us know.

Also, does your email relay have a login and password?
