Problem with Replace
« on: December 20, 2012, 11:27:42 AM »
I'm running Designer version 1.0.2, And I did a replace function because I was changing some of my sensor inputs. I replaced X7 with X8 for 20 elements long, and had the move documentation radio button checked, When I clicked the replace button, it moved the inputs correctly in the program, but it took the X0 through X8 documentation and moved it forward so that X0 now has no documentation, and X8 documentation was lost, the X9 through X27 documentation remains unchanged. I'm not sure if this is a bug, but I don't have time to mess around with it right now to see.

As a side note, when I use the replace function and attempt to enter the number 20 in the Number of elements box, I have to enter another number in order to change the 1, or I can click the up button to 2 and then type a zero. I can understand that you don't want someone to try to enter a 0 in the box, but can you make it so that I can enter a number that starts with something besides a 1?
Thanks for your consideration

I believe we have fixed this (your description is nearly the same as a previous issue that was reported after 1.0.2 shipped in October).  This fix will be in our next release, but I cannot say how soon that will be.

As a work around, do the REPLACE of the LOGIC but LEAVE the documentation.  Then use the DOC EDITOR and do a CUT/PASTE of the records from the source to the destination.

Also, as for your side note (trying to enter '20' into the Number of Elements box), I'm guessing what happened is you tried to delete the '1' before entering the new value and it wouldn't let you delete (correct me if I'm wrong on that). The reason that doesn't work is that the internal rules governing that field demand that there must always be something valid in that box at any given time. Thus, an empty field (or letters, or anything besides a non-zero integer for that matter) is not allowed.

However, if you double-click in that box to highlight what's already there, then you can simply type '20' (or whatever number you need) and it should enter properly. Hope that helps.

Thanks, I don't know how I missed the double click... I think it's because if I double click anywhere else while I'm editing it opens up the Element Browser (an option for a triple click to open Element browser would be nice).
