Ethernet port on BRX

FYI I have had 3 BRX plc's that the ethernet port gets loose, not sure the customer didn't mess with it but I have not had this problem with other plc's. 1 of the units the ethernet stopped working (broke off) so I put a ethernet POM to hook to the network. Not complaining I really like the BRX just letting you know what has happened.

They are surface mount, so they aren't quite as robust as through-hole connectors, but it should take a pretty good bit of force to break them. I don't know that it is a quality problem, but it does sound unusual that you've seen three of them break. We're happy to repair them, and honestly I'd like engineering to look at them to make sure there isn't a solder or board delamination problem.

I put in a POM and have been using it for testing. 1 is still running a machine with a POM and the other one I'll see if the customer will let me send it in, it's out of service but they wanted to keep it just in case, this unit was put in service in 2019. Let me know where to send them and about how much the repair will cost and I'll arrange it.

I had a couple H2-DM1Es where the RJ45 was barely hanging onto the board (conductors only, the case wasn't attached) years ago, but haven't seen it on a BRX so far.

We shipped out the repaired units. We saw nothing that suggested a manufacturing defect, so it looks like some heavy handed cable insertion/removal. There is a build option on the board to use a through hole connector, so we repaired with that. If this were a more common failure I might say that the connector is weaker than it should be, buy we've only had a few such failures.
