DirectSOFT 5.3 running in Wine on Ubuntu
« on: August 18, 2008, 03:55:24 PM »
Has anyone gotten this working?  If found this thread: http://forum1.automationdirect.com/board/Forum1/HTML/002524.html on Automation Direct's boards.

I have the com ports setup in wine by doing the following:
ln -s /dev/ttyS0 ~/.wine/dosdevices/com1

But in order to get csmain.exe to run, I have to edit ds500.ini and disable all com ports.  Apparently it will work for accessing a PLC over ethernet, but I have a need to get the serial port communication also.

Other than that, it appears to be working great under wine!

How about running under Windows in a VM?
I retract my earlier statement that half of all politicians are crooks.  Half of all politicians are NOT crooks.  There.

That was going to be the next try, as I have VMWare Workstation.  But mylaptop is designed for portability, not power, so I'm trying to keep things as "lean" as possible.

I've attached the output from the standard error log to see if it helps.

Thanks!
