ctrio still counting when mach. is not in running

  ctrio is still counting when mach is not running
I have a rewinder that runs great but some times after roll is done the the c-more will say that it is still running,and the led on the ctrio is blinking (input 2a is getting sig. from encoder) but mach is not running.
encoder is heavy duty incremental p/n# trd-gk500-rzd *note if i turn shaft just a bit it will go to 0 FPM.

Some things to consider:

• Can you verify (using CTRIO Workbench's Monitor I/O function) that the CTRIO really is counting while machine is stopped?
• If CTRIO is still counting then it is seeing edges, thus, can you verify with an oscilloscope if it is clean/dirty?
• If there are edges seen on the o'scope, this could be due to one or more of several different things; one of which could be encoder vibration or malfunction.
• What is the voltage level of the inputs?
• Also, how is encoder wired to CTRIO input?
• Is cable running from encoder to CTRIO shielded?
• How long is the cable?
• Does cable run parallel to any high voltage?
• Does cable run near electrically noisy devices, like drives?
