How Robust is Remote Upload of Ladder

I am using a StrideLinx VPN to a remote customer site, and would like to update the ladder remotely.
We get typical ping times of 80-90ms, but periodically get a ping of >1000ms.
We have adjusted the time out on the link so we can connect, and get good real time communications with the BRX.
How reliable is the upload?? We do not want to brick the PLC if there is an error during an upload of an updated ladder.
Is a complete image transferred to memory, and checked for CRC before the ladder logic is swapped?

It's solid. Yes, everything is sent to the PLC, checksum verified, code validated, program switched, and only then stored back to flash. Users routinely update ladders remotely, and even update firmware.
