BRX to replace a 2 axis CNC
« on: January 30, 2020, 01:09:22 PM »
The new company I just started working for has a new chinese built drilling machine with just an X and a Z axis an air clamp cylinder, air push cylinder, and 3 air drill cylinders, thats it. There is one VFD with output contactors used to run a large drill spindle, a small drill spindle or 3 small drill spindles together and 2 Yasakawa servo drives.

The control is a Weihong Lambda 3l Brick style CNC controller which uses a chinese PC running a chinese version of XP on a brand new machine! Can you see a nightmare looming in keeping this thing running?

We only make a half dozen different parts on this machine in quantities of thousands. I can see tearing out the CNC and the PC and dropping in a BRX with a C-More with recipes for the different parts, done. Good product support for another 20 years!
