BRX New High Speed Cards for reproducing Tach signals
« on: April 01, 2019, 08:42:13 AM »
I've done this with the 205 ctrio 2 card where i have an Asphalt pump that goes to a micro-motion flow meter. It gives a pulse output for flow rate. We had an erratic signal because because of noise so i put a remote rack out near the flow meter and put a citrio in there to capture the pulses. Then inside the control house I put another citrio2 that just recreates the same signal but it goes thru Ethernet cable and it eliminated the noise problem. They can even use the Drive for the drag slat now that would reek havoc with the ac flow before.

My question is the new cards are 8 in and 8 out. the 205 series is basically if you have 8 tachs you need 4 cards remote and 4 cards inside to recreate the signal. Is the new brx cards going to be the same where they basically do 2 axis or have 4 inputs per axis so i would still need 4 cards to do 8 tachs? or can you use the 8 HS inputs to capture 1 tach each and then reproduce the signal at another card with 8 outputs to do 8 tach signals. Looking at the product insert looks like maybe you can do 3 or 4 tachs per card.

BX-HSIO has 8 fast inputs and outputs, but only has 4 counters, and 4 axes (3 physical + 1 virtual), so if you need to generate a pulse train then you are limited to 3.

It also bears mentioning that the HSIO does not work in a remote IO base.
