Do-More Designer locks Windows up
« on: November 30, 2015, 06:13:06 PM »
I have seen this happen several times over the past several months, even with V1.4.2. Running a Windows 7 Pro computer, I have several instances of Do-More Designer running and the Comm Server crashes. I close one or two of them and then the others will not close. I open Windows Task Manager and try to force them to shutdown. Then Windows Task Manager locks-up and I cannot click on anything. This forces me to hard boot my computer. Granted I am pushing things hard with several Designers running (and several other programs) at the same time but I have never seen Task Manager lockup this way.
I wonder if anyone else has seen this issue. Still best product on the market!

Designer creates a dump file that has information on the state of the software when it crashed.  If you look in your installation BIN folder (for 1.4 it is typically c:\Do-more\Designer1_4\Bin), and look for all the dump files - they have extension *.dmp.

The file names have the form
DmDesigner__version__date/time.dmp like DmDesigner__1_4_3__20151130_183100.dmp.
OR
CSMainDm__version__date/time.dmp

If you can email any/all of them to "support at hosteng.com" (you see how to make it a valid email address in your To: field, don't want junk-email-address-sniffers to find it).  Feel free to compress them or send them separately if you have any limitations.

If possible, please include any information on what you were doing when the crash occurred.  Even better, if you can duplicate a crash scenario and describe it in detail, this would be very helpful.

Thank you!!

Not sure this went through so I am sending it again with the .zip dump files.

Sorry, I just saw your request for info on the Modbus starters we are using. I thought I would send a private message so you will see it. I am using the Schneider (Square D - old Telemechaniqe) U-Line series. They are DIN style starters in a wide range of sizes and both FV and FVR. They have an intellegent module for monitoring %load and other factors and you use a plug--n Modbus module for monitoring and control. Like all things SD, documentation is hard to find but the products are great; once you figure out how to use them! No picking up the phone and having an tech guy in <5min like AutomationDirect!
