DirectSoft 5.3 Full, Windows 7, No COM 5 Support?
« on: July 17, 2013, 03:25:32 PM »
I have just received my Direct Logic 6 PLC along with my DirectSoft 5.3 (Full paid version). This is running on an HP laptop, running Windows 7, that does not have serial ports built in but uses an external USB to serial converter via COM 5 and COM 6. (this same setup works very well with the CLICK PLC units)

Upon initial attempt to connect via serial cable I ran into a problem with the software. I am only seeing COM 1 through COM 4 (no 5 or 6).
Reading through the support columns it looks like since version 5 there is full COM support, am I missing something?

You have to enable the com port in your .ini file, see this FAQ:

Circumstances don't determine who we are, they only reveal it.

Thanks!  I was hoping it was something simple like that.  I saw the comment in the documentation about enabling or disabling 1..4 but didn't take it to the next step of simply adding 5 or 6.

Thanks,
Joe...
