Description field in the Element Browser
« on: October 09, 2012, 11:44:04 AM »
I'm new to DirectSOFT 5 and uploaded a program from a piece of equipment we have here. Of course there are no Nicknames or Descriptions and I'm in the process of creating these. My problem is that the Description field requires all text entered into the first line before the second line of text will start. The problem with this is the text gets quite long so the bits will spread apart more in the ladder logic, due to the length of the text, and if there are quite a few bits in the rung then the logic will walk off of the screen for viewing.  I've looked through the Tools and thought I could minimize the cells in the Documentation Editor but had no success doing so.  Long story short how do I compress the Description Field.  Oh. I also zoom out but graphics to small for me to view.

Thank
JS

In the Documentation Editor (Ctrl+D), use Ctrl+Enter within the Description cell editor to enter a HARD <CR>.  This will format your Description to your desired width.

In the Element Browser (F9), also use Ctrl+Enter within the Description edit box to enter a HARD <CR>.

If your nicknames are descriptive enough then use 'View' - 'Options' - Ladder Tab. Uncheck 'Descriptions'. I don't think there is a setting to change the description window width.

An output is a PLC's way of getting its inputs to change.

You are correct, Bernie.
