Hello,

We are the Israeli distributor of ADC. We wonder if you have plans to make the SERIO modules competible with the DL-205 CPU's. As you know there are only 2 comm ports which only one of them is master. The D2-DCM is not modbus master so if we need more than one serial network we don't have "elegant" solution. Am I the first to ask?

Our new MX CPU will support both of those modules as remote serial ports.  They will have all the functionality of the local serial port.  This includes being any one of the following:
* Modbus Master
* Modbus Slave
* Programming port (for DirectSOFT)
* K-Sequence Slave (not Master)
* General Purpose (i.e. ladder logic control to talk to any serial device, and yes, it's full duplex)

I recommend going to Host Engineering's MX Technology Preview forum and browsing there to learn more about MX, and download the software (FREE MX Simulator!).  http://forum.hosteng.com/index.php/board,17.0.html

Also, you probably should email your contact at ADC if you would like a Beta sample of the 205 CPU.  We would glady get you one, along with a new CTRIO2 module (there are new instructions in the MX CPU that only work with this new CTRIO2 module).  Note that it will also support the current CTRIO module.

If he said it, it's true (cuz I'm only a bit weenie - I don't do power budgets, I just pay my electric bill).

Yep, sure can. It might leave the CPU a bit out of breath, but should work nicely. Depending on baud rates and comm rates it might not even notice though. I'm sure that eventually somebody will do a massive comm concentrator like this. Should be fun!
