DoMore Designer 2.11.1 Crashing
« on: October 25, 2025, 09:19:31 AM »
Hey guys, I have been experiencing freeze ups (no matter how long I wait) when starting or stopping communications with a PLC. The only solution I can come up with is to open task manager and manually terminate the DoMore Designer application AND the PLC Communications Server Application. Only then can I restart the program and connect. This happens pretty consistently. Sometimes the first time connecting to a PLC and no less than the fourth or fifth time connecting. I have observed the following :
  • It Only happens during the connecting to, disconnecting from, or write to PLC Command
  • Happens across multiple PC's although all are running windows 11
  • Have to open task manager and kill DoMore Designer AND PLC Communications server 32
  • Only happened after updating to 2.11.1 from 2.10.*

Any suggestions?

I know we have seen some issues when adding a "new device" to your PC.  When Windows sends a message that a "new device" has shown up (it can be a PRINTER or a USB drive, not just something related to a PLC), Designer attempts to resolve that device, and sometimes it "hangs"  :P

I had fixed some old code for 2.11 that apparently does not work properly.  I have addressed that and we are looking to ship a 2.11.2 soon.

In the meantime, I recommend that you power up any USB bench PLCs or USB to Ethernet or VPN connections, or connect any USB drivers or printers BEFORE launching Designer.  So sorry.
