Does GS-EDRV100 support GS4-4040
« on: May 11, 2025, 09:31:01 AM »
The EDRV100 manual says that it supports GS4:  The GS-EDRV100 is designed to work with legacy GS1, GS2, GS3, and GS4
series drives.

But Automation Direct has this answer:

The GS-EDRV100 uses predefined Modbus addresses for the Command Word and Status Addresses which match those for the legacy GS1, GS2 and GS3 series.

There is some overlap with the modbus addresses of GS4 but they are not the same.  Therefore, we do not recommend attempted use of the GS-EDRV100 with the GS4.

The GS4 series offers the following ethernet communication cards:

GS4-CM-MODTCP
GS4-CM-ENETIP

Who is right?

What are you using as a controller?  If it's a BRX then why bother with an EDRV100?  The built in MODBUS scanner will do it better and easier than trying to fiddle with a bunch of individual statements.

I am using a DO-More H2-DM1E as the controller.  I am using the GS-EDRV100 because it natively populates the structured members through the Ethernet I/O master.

https://hosteng.com/dmdhelp/content/system_configuration/Structure_Members.htm#GSDrive_Structure

Ive done this very successfully with GS2 drives and GS20 drives in GS2 mode.  But Ive never tried it on the GS4 drive.

Automation Direct is very unclear about whether or not it will work with the GS4.

Its listed as compatible:

GS-EDRV100
AutomationDirect ethernet communication module, (1) Ethernet 10/100Base-T (RJ45) and (1) RS-232/RS-485 (RJ12) port(s), (12) simultaneous Ethernet connections, (1) serial device(s), 12-48 VDC required. For use with GS1, GS2, GS3 and GS4 series AC drives.

But then they answer a question stating that its not compatible later on.

Has anyone used the GS4 and the GS-EDRV100 together?
