BRX TCP
« on: February 19, 2021, 12:56:07 PM »
I have a BRX that is doing MRX and MWXs to 4 TCP clients (Click PLCs). One of the clients went off line for an extended period. After bringing it back online the BRX would not communicate with it until I put the BRX in program mode and then run. I have tried to duplicate this by disconnecting the PLC for a short time. The communications are quickly reestablished.
Is this by design that the communications are disabled until a program mode cycle after being offline for an extended period?

I doubt it is by "design".  I also MRX/MWX to multiple Clicks, and haven't had a BRX related issue re-connecting after an outage.

Are these connected via hardwired ethernet or via a wireless bridge of sorts?

How is your program written, do you have your MRX instructions set to run continuously at a time interval?  Do you Set Bit or JMP to Stage on Success/Error?  Do you have timeouts for non-responsive Clicks?

Definitely not by design. All comms should come right back. If you can dupe it, I'd love to know the details.

Sometimes the issue is network hardware. I've seen switches and adapters get mad until they were power cycled. Sometimes unhooking the network cable refreshes the switch or adapter.

Each instruction is in a separate stage and I jump to the next after a success or error.

Hardwired

I was able to connect to the click with my PC through the same series of switches that DoMore is connected. The switches are unmanaged stride. I never did power cycle the switches.
I have numerous sites where DoMore is communicating to several clicks without any problems. Hopefully I will never see this again.
Thanks

It is doing it again and I can't get it to restart! They had 2 of the PLCs offline today and now it is hung.

It is hung on a particular stage or MWX/MRX box?

Stage with a MRX.

Stage bit on, but neither Success or Error bit on or transitioned?

Open the Device list and double click on the Modbus/TCP client you are using. What does the device status say?

Unfortunately I didn't read this post before I updated the firmware.  It was on 2.7 and I updated it to 2.8.3. Started working right after the update. I have the status open now and every device will momentarily flash that the instruction is locked. I assume that this is normal.

Thanks for you help.
