Critical Failures
« on: January 16, 2021, 03:39:21 PM »
BobO,
I've had two critical failures in the past little while crashing DmD 2.8.3 while attempting to use the STRPRINT command. Attached is a screen clip of one of the failures and the dmp file.

Can you provide the steps to duplicate the crash?

Did this crash occur while navigating the "slow" .dmd project file?  The .dmd project file itself will be helpful regardless.

I duplicated it.  We will fix it.

Fixed.  Will be in next release.

The issue is that STRPRINT of a Date/Time structure like $Now is not supported as a simple element.  It must be used in a FmtTime or FmtDate function.  The new script editor dialog (improperly) allows it, but the STRPRINT (parent) dialog caught the invalid parameter, but that bad parameter was mis-reported by the new Script Editor, which caused it to try to set focus to a text edit field that does not exist, hence the crash.

I fixed "both" issues - where the Script Editor dialog will catch the invalid $Now "Element" command parameter (the bulb in the Element field will now be RED, not GREEN), along with the parent STRPRINT dialog properly handling a parameter field that is not in range.

You guys address and fix bugs so fast.  If only my other industrial programing software packages were so proficient.

I agree. I know I'm being selfish as ever......but I hope they are a long way from retirement, we need them.
