Updated PLC firmware and booter now its not on network anymore
« on: December 31, 2020, 11:03:05 AM »
Please help, I updated the firmware and booter to the latest. I have no problems connecting via USB and the PLC is running. However, it is no longer showing on the network. I verified the IP settings are still correct. Any ideas of other things to check or is this a local network issue?

We have an issue with VPNs right now, but I don't know of anyone who has had issues connecting locally. We will be releasing 2.8.3 next week, which should take care of the VPN problem.

FYI to any with similar issues, this is a known bug in 2.8.2. We'll be releasing 2.8.3 shortly to fix this.

By 'VPN' you mean any routed connecting that has to go through the PLC subnet gateway?
I retract my earlier statement that half of all politicians are crooks.  Half of all politicians are NOT crooks.  There.

Probably.

A bit more detail: When we added the new ECOMEX POM, that forced the inclusion of routing code in the TCP/IP stack. That routing code has the potential to direct packets to the gateway on the opposite port to where the DmD session is. In the interest of keeping local programming working the way it always did, we added a shortcut to force programming comms back out the port they came in on, regardless of whether that 'ought' to be correct or not from a routing perspective. It's never wrong to go back out the port it came in, right? It seemed like a good idea. It wasn't.

I would expect this fix to drop on Monday or Tuesday.

Bump.
Also affected by this issue.
PLC's are on a 192.168.1.0/24 network
HMI's are on a 192.168.2.0/24 network

HMI and PLC can no longer communicate.

OS version 2.8.3 that was released today should correct these issues.

The software isn't on Automation Direct's website. Where can we find it?

Run Do-more Designer. It should give you the option of downloading it.

If your controller is online you can "check for updates" under the help menu and it will download to the controller. If not, go to https://hosteng.com/ and get it from the firmware section on the left hand side of the page.
