New Automation Direct Forum Question
« on: April 29, 2020, 08:34:36 AM »
I can't seem to find a Post button on the new Automation Direct forum. At the top of the page it says it is a Read Only Forum. So does that mean there will only be new posts from Automation Direct? Is this the only place to ask questions?

Just trying to clarify and can't seem to post over there to get an answer so thought I'd try here.

We opened up a new forum to better serve our customers: https://community.automationdirect.com/

The old forum is still there for reference.

What's better about the new forum?  How does it better serve the customers?
I retract my earlier statement that half of all politicians are crooks.  Half of all politicians are NOT crooks.  There.

I'm not a fan.

Me either.  The categories don't seem nearly as well organized as before.  Even so, I didn't mean my question to be rhetorical or snarky, it takes a lot of work to build the new thing, so obviously they think it's going to do something better, and I'm trying to figure out what.

Don't know, wasn't consulted. The format and constant logging me out (and requiring a text to log back in) has greatly reduced my attention there. I check occasionally, but unless I have a strong need to answer a post, I'll let somebody else do it.

I'm not a fan either. Seems like it's targeted toward the younger whippersnappers and their fancy "smart" phones.

Yeah...but is it? I'm fine with changing for improvement, I'm just not sure what improved.

As a younger whippersnapper who has run websites and gaming servers, I think that the new forum is junk.

The old one looks like a vForum setup and was easy to navigate, this new one just seems clunky and goes for looks over function.  Just saying...

On the old forum I could see from the first page if there were new posts. It had auto login also. I'll probably go to it less.
An output is a PLC's way of getting its inputs to change.

Hopefully our resident Do-more PE is lurking and will communicate this to the appropriate people down there. I can't say too much without risking perma-ban. From life. And stuff.

Dang...I need to get out of the house more.

I just sent the moderator the fact that the top pages show the ORIGINAL POST time stamp (e.g. 13 hours ago), not the time stamp of the MOST RECENT ACTIVITY.  Help me figure out whether I need to view that topic again.  Showing the (static) original post time does not help.

Also not a fan of the ADC forum, like another post said I am not sure what the improvement is. Looks like it is not as easy to use or understand. Please dont follow their lead and dont "improve" this forum, please leave your's like it is.  ;)

Wow, looks like the guy who started all this activity went inside and closed the drapes and all we're left with is the mob with the pitchforks.   ;D

I am with most of you, the new forum sucks. I thought, I was stupid at first, then I realized it's not me, glad I am not the only one that finds it very difficult to achieve what was simple in old forum, kinda like my utility bill they have changed it like 10 times in as many years to make it easier for us to read, (LOL, like we are stupid) now I can barely understand it and had no problems before.

You have to wonder who thought it would be better? and why?
