descripton on the fly
« on: August 30, 2017, 06:40:35 AM »
You guys are doing a great job by the way. Just one little quirk that gets me. For example entering a timer and I want to add the description I can not until I accept the entry or have it pre-entered into the documentation. It is just one of those things that seems trivial but when programming then have to stop to accept all the entries then go back and do my labeling well it is a little annoying. On a positive note, I just converted an older DS program to Do-More and it was cut in half! A lot of it was the anlaog with all that LD, LDD, etc.

You need to discover the power of nicknames. In the structure field, type a nickname instead of a timer number. Then hit enter and DMD will open a "create nickname" dialog box. There is a "more" button in the bottom right that has the description box.
Click on "prefer nicknames" in options to unlock all the power of nicknames. This is known as Bob mode. This feature has cut my project development time by about 25%.

Also, the F9 key is available everywhere you can enter an element (instruction field, find element, etc.).  This brings up the Element Browser dialog.  If the Element Picker shows up instead, just hit F9 a second time and the Element Browser will show up.  The Element Browser lets you enter nicknames and other element documentation fields.

I know at one time you had a paper describing functions but what about all these other gems. I liked those methods.
