The gateway address has to be pointed to the router or whatever you are using to get to the Internet.

I don't have enough information there to help you.

In order to connect to the Internet, your PLC must be connected to some form of router. Since the PLC only has a wired connection, the connection to the router will be wired. The PC appears to be connected wirelessly, but the PC's wired connection doesn't show a gateway, which tells me the wired connection isn't tied to the router.

Some wireless routers also have a built-in switch for wired connections. If so, that's where you need to connect. If there is a switch in the router, try connecting the PC to it and dumping the IP setup of the wired connection.

From the Dashboard, you can click on the Ethernet port and select "Edit IP Configuration". You can also access the same dialog from System Information.

It's not hard, just stick with it and you'll get there.  You might consider a VPN (virtual private network) that creates a tunnel connection between you and the thing you want to talk to on the other end.  A little more complicated, but not too much, and more secure.

A relay is just software running on a local PC. It has an internal SMTP interface, and an external interface that talks to the target email servers. From the BRX PLC's perspective it just looks like an SMTP server, so you configure BRX with IP address of the internal interface.

We build small waste treatment plants and you think who'd bother hacking that?  Well we are moving to VPN because last month we got a $900 overage bill on our cell modem from data traffic unrelated to our operations!  Before that we were simply getting pinged so much that the response to the pings saying 'yep we are here' ran up a big bill.

I know this a old post but I also had a rough time trying to send a email. I had a laptop that was connected to Wifi the only way I was able to have the plc access the internet was to bridge the LAN connection and Wifi connection.
Another way to do it is: Go to network and sharing-click on your wireless connection-properties-sharing tab-select "allow other network users to connect to the internet"-select the connection that you want to share. Your local port will get a different IP address and you will have to update your plc ip to match. For example my computer Ethernet IP is 192.168.137.1-Mask 255.255.255.0 your PLC IP has be 192.168.137.XXX-Mask255.255.255.0 Gateway 192.168.137.1 and it should work.
