Any way to record and playback analog
« on: March 18, 2017, 06:19:21 PM »
Hi,  Is there a way to record an analog value ( kind of like the graph built in trend viewer ) and play the analog back to an output on command.

Thanks

Depending on the required sample rate, it would be pretty easy to do that on a BRX with analog.

Would it be possible to sample at 120hz?
What are the instructions/ steps to do this ?
I am trying to do a similar to this device

The speed is fine.

How many channels do you need?

Ideally 4 but at least 3
Thanks

BRX can easily do it, but it will be June/July before the analog output modules are out. For now, the BX-DM1E-36 has the most onboard analog, but there are only 2 onboard outputs channels.

We may also end up adding DMX512 as a protocol option between now and then. You didn't mention it, but it is something we have done in testing, and I would like to add both master and slave versions, and possibly even ArtNet.

I would like to revisit this post now that tha analog cards have been released. What is the method to record and playback analog ?  Also was dmx512 implemented?
Thanks

I'm pretty sure the FACTS analog modules are not fast enough to meet your requirement. The built-in channels are capable of nearly 1Khz, and I was of the understanding that they were targeting similar specs for the modules. Apparently not.

As for DMX, the current plan is to implement it in the BX-SERIO module. I have a software implementation for the internal port, but it takes some liberties that I would rather not put into product. By adding it to the BX-SERIO, we can implement it in hardware with no compromises.

So if I'm looking at the specs right, the Analog Input Expansion card has an update rate of 22.2Hz?

Facts built the BRX analog modules not Host?

Correct. If there is enough interest in an analog module based on the built-in channel design (high-speed, universal voltage/current), we might look at Host doing a -3 expansion. We'll let the market drive that though.

That would imply I got them up to start with.  ;)

But in case my subtle suggestion wasn't obvious enough, those flashing lights might be controlled by a BRX CPU via DMX512. ;D
