Do-More Won't Boot In Run Mode
« on: February 13, 2017, 01:46:33 PM »
I have a Do-More  DM1E that will not boot up in Run Mode. What setting is missing. Every time I have to either move the switch from Term To Run then back to Term or in software put it in Run Mode. It will not stay in Run when powering down then back up. I never seen this before.

There's an internal log and some registers you can look at to see what kicked out of of run.

Dead battery. I/O issues. As was mentioned, I'd check the system log.

nothing in the log except says I put the switch in run mode.

I cleared the plc and tried again, but same thing. I will try a different cpu.

If the battery is dead, what bit will show me this?

ST149 will be on. The Power led on the CPU will be yellow. The system log will have very little in it and a reference at the top to the retentive memory being cleared.

What firmware version are you running?

I do not see the "*" symbol next to the updates. I redid the updates anyhow, no error lights, ST140 is off. This CPU is not that old. I will try it in another rack or change out IO cards tomorrow. Also try another cpu in this rack. Can not do anything tonight. Ran checks and not problems show up.

Should be ST149...not ST140.

Is the power LED yellow or green?

Is the system log mostly empty, or not?

From DmD, do you get a message that says the I/O configuration was updated?

Do you have any Ethernet remote I/O, or just I/O in the local base?

ST149 is off, but ST134 Turns on when I power up the CPU.
Power LED is green
System Log is mostly empty and does not indicate any I/O updates. Only says something about the term switch
Just I/O, (1) 8pt input and (1) 8pt output.
I tried the CPU in another system rack and same thing, kicks out of Run Mode.
I have the switch in Term at all times.
I am going to see if I can return it.
0412 is on the CPU about the MAC address, is this the serial number? Does this tell when it was manufactured, I have to find the correct PO for it. Not sure how old it is. I had several on the shelf.

0412? That's the date code, and since we didn't launch until late 2012, that one sounds like a museum piece.

From the System Information dialog, what is the hardware rev?

It says 4N. Now you got me thinking, this might be the CPU you gave us for doing the beta testing. ;D

It was in my test rack I use to program. It was working Okay before.

Definitely beta. Not sure about the failure. If this is an old unit, and the SysLog doesn't have much in it, I'd say there is a very good chance the battery is dead. It's possible that the battery level detection wasn't working when that unit was built.
