Unexpected LACK of results in Find on Bit Casts
« on: December 19, 2014, 05:11:21 PM »
I have a Do-more project with a lot of bit casts. If I "Find" V0, it will only find V0 and V0:0 - it will not find V0:1 through V0:15. I have tried the various tick boxes with no difference in results. The cross reference will show them. If I "Find" V0:2 though, that works OK. This was causing me some head-scratching last night late trying to start up a machine retrofit.

It also seems the sort order is different between the Cross Reference and the Documentation Editor. Cross Reference orders more nicely with "Sort by element - ascending" whereas the Doc Editor is better with "Sort by Data-Block Number/ID". This is in reference to getting the elements and bits in order.

Looks like it's broke in 1.3.  It worked correctly in 1.2.  Looks like we "fixed" something, but broke it another way.  That's not good.

Sorry about that.  We will definitely get that remedied.

Cross Reference and Documentation have different goals and implementations, but we've tried to make all the logical sorting behavior as consistent as possible. Perhaps we fell short. Key point is that Documentation is a record-based list with a very strict set, and Xref is a list of everything associated with a piece of memory and can contain many more things than can be documented. But if it is broke, we'll try to fix it. ;)

Fixed.  Even Rel 1.2 had some issues, which are now fixed.

It will show up in the next release of Designer.  Sorry about that :-[.

Thanks!

While I hate "finding" issues, it sure is pleasant to know they get resolved quickly.

Hosties fix stuff in less time than it takes AB to ignore you!
I retract my earlier statement that half of all politicians are crooks.  Half of all politicians are NOT crooks.  There.
