MQTT Authentication
« on: May 17, 2020, 11:30:16 AM »
If I haven't said it already, thank you to the Host Eng team for the JSON and MQTT tools!  I use BRX PLC's for automated testing platforms and these two features alone have simplified my ladder logic and reduced my scan times.

I am wanting to add in some logging and dashboards to my platform.  Since I am already using MQTT, I have been looking into tools like Thingsboard.  I would like to publish results at the end of the test run to the corresponding device I create in Thingsboard.  To do this, you setup an MQTT client and set the username to the devices token.  The password is left empty.

The current implementation of the Do-more MQTT client settings don't allow for an empty password though it is valid in the MQTT spec.  Could the DM MQTT client be updated to support this?

Easy change. Didn't realize that no password was valid.

In the meantime, this is untested, but you may be able to use DEVWRITE to update the password to empty. A quick glance at the code appears to limit max length, but not min, so empty might work.
