Hello All,
We have an OEM customer building portable machines we are going to try to use the BX-DM1E-10ER3-D and a cmt--SVR-200 from Weintek.  We chose the BRX for the cost and software seems advanced.  The screenless HMI so we can use a tablet to control the system to save cost instead of a 10" HMI.
Application will use a single load cell for measure force, I have a RS485 Modbus input to the PLC.  Also a laser or ultrasonic distance sensor using the 4-20mA input on the PLC.  Tests will be recorded and saved for later viewing and export to either a SD card or USB drive.
Test takes about 5 seconds we want to log every 1/32 or 1/64" weight and distance values, maximum distance travel is 4".
The question is will the analog input be fast enough to accomplish this?
Also any advice on the project would be appreciated.
Thank you.

  • Yes Pinky, Do-more will control the world!
Onboard analog inputs update at about about 1.2ms. The -3 versions of analog expansion use the same technology and update at the same rate. Any of the -1 and -2B expansions use different technology are are considerably slower. So if speed is an issue, use onboard or -3.

At 256 samples (1/64" x 4") in 5 seconds, you are right at 20ms per sample. PLC won't break a sweat.

"It has recently come to our attention that users spend 95% of their time using 5% of the available features. That might be relevant." -BobO

Thank you for the reply.  I figured so but wanted to be sure.
