NETTIME from NTP service
« on: March 17, 2015, 08:53:36 AM »
Cannot get NETTIME to pull time from our server. My IT guy says we use NTP service not SNTP. Can NETTIME use NTP service?

I'm not familiar with NTP, but I'm guessing no.

NTP uses multiple servers to get accurate time and is mainly intended for upstream service such as the government and college servers where latency can cause irregularities in the syncing.

SMTP is typically for small private WAN's where latency is not much of an issue and can be used with a single server solution.
