Title: DL06 and monitoring Load Cell?
Post by: gk77 on May 22, 2012, 11:23:34 AM
We are looking to update some test equipment that should have been done long ago.  The machine is rather simple, acuating an air cylinder to open and close a drawer.  What we would like to do monitor the force with a load cell for opening AND closing the drawer and then define parameters for failures.  The problem I think i have is that when pulling the drawer open, i get a + voltage from my load cell, and when i push the drawer closed i get a - voltage.

All the cards i see for the DL06 are 0-5, 0-10... voltages.  How do i see and translate a negative voltage input.  I idn't see anything searching the forum.

And yes, i am fairly new, but have successfully programmed a few machines so far with much success with pressure transducers and running 5 station test systems all with Cmore panels.

Make sure you have a load cell amplifier. Most provide an offset adjustment. Move the offset so that zero signal gives you a positive signal. Ensure that the worst negative doesn't drive the signal below zero. You should them be able to handle the math in the PLC.
