Title: newbie. Help!!

I am pretty new at programming PLC's but I will need to get up to speed fairly soon.  I have been doing some studying/research on my home laptop with the free version, Directsoft 1000.  I have written some short programs that I want to test.  I am able to go to data view and add the elements, but the status box remains empty and I cannot add on/off to the status box.  Is this because I am offline?  Is there a way to test the software without being connected to the PLC?  Seems like there should be.  Thanks in advance!

No, there is no offline simulation capability. You need to be online to see status.

thanks!  I spent an hour trying to figure it out!
